"3 A.M Playa"

Believe it or not, this shot was taken in complete darkness; I could not see my hand in front of my face. In fact It was so dark that I actually tripped over that tree and spent the rest of the night with a face full of sand. I spent the next few angry minutes cleaning the sand out of the lens and blowing stupidly on the viewfinder. I was annoyed, but finally ready to see what this long exposure business was all about.  I connected the cheap, plastic, remote shutter and impatiently set the timer to 3 and a half minutes without knowing why, or what to expect. I don't like waiting, and I almost stopped it half way just to take a peak, but I convinced myself to let it finish. To say I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked at the back of the camera is an understatement. I knew the scene would have some light in it, but the brilliant color, and beautiful shadows I was not expecting. A lot of people think the lights in the distance is the sun getting to rise, in actuality its the lights from Playa del Carmen, where the party wasn't even close to stopping.
